Takkies&Tulips- BLOGGER WISH LIST

Good Day all my Tulip Readers ⚘

So today I am going to do something a bit unusual. I am making a wish list, so usually when I decide on blog posts I brainstorm, I make charts and I go to town on all the ideas I have in my head, which essentially I want to bring to life.

A DSLR CAMERA

So at the top of my list is the CANON 1300D DSLR 18mp Camera. Yes when you have an amazing phone like  P20 like I have got it does make pictures so much easier, but nothing beats holding just a camera and finding your flow and making art. Also I can make make-up videos on it to upload which on a mobile phone is a bit more difficult and will be time consuming, also the quality will be that much better on a professional camera. It also has lenses you can change for different features and close ups.
CANON 1300D DSLR - This here is a link to the website where I first saw this camera with all the specifications and you might even get inspired. It too comes with a training course which is amazing for a beginner blogger who really wants to elevate her photography skills. There is so much to learn and I am always ready. 🙋

A DESK SPACE
Another important one is a new desk space, right now I dont have one and I feel like I fall short sometimes because I would also be more motivated if I had a space just committed to my blogging space. I have so many ideas of what I want this space to look like, I have chosen my theme as white, rose gold and any wood or grey accents, I feel like it suits my vision for my blog and its clean open and colours can easily be added to it.
Below I am going to provide links for all these pictures, but also show you a few ideas I want for Myself.
Once you have a theme, and a budget go for it.

DESK
DESK ACCESSORIES
DIARIES, PLANNING, LIGHTS AND DESK ACCESSORIES! ALMOST EVERYTHING

Make your space speak you, make it elevate your taste, don't just be like any blogger. Be the only blogger like you.

BEAUTY

If I could, I would have a grocery list of all the beauty items I want, but right now at this moment for a my needs I am going to list a few that would really benefit me.

Face
Top beauty items that will be an amazing add to any collection is the Essence strobing and contouring palette, it has everything from the lightest eggshell shades to the deepest dark, for the perfect contouring shade, I have always just used the darkest foundation I had in my collection but with this palette you can use it for way more, you can even create your perfect concealer shade, foundation too and save money. It’s a bargain, and its hot on my list. It retails for R139.99 at Dischem Pharmacy and I think this is a steal!!
ESSENCE STROBING & CONTOURING PALETTE

Eyes and cheeks
Like I’ve said before eyes are the window to the soul guys, but wow. BH COSMETICS always kills the game, now available on The Beauty And the Blush Website they have The Blushed neutrals eyeshadow and blush palette!!! These colours can be worn everyday for a simple or a dramatic look with or without a full face. Its on sale for R390.00 and wow! It’s made my week just looking at it.
BH COSMETICS PALETTE AT BEAUTY AND THE BLUSH

Lips
SO, I don’t wear a lot of lipstick and when I do and I have to reapply It annoys me, so I have been looking for and Affordable Liquid lipstick and I found one MAYBELLINE VIVID MATTE LIPSTICK wow. It Retails for R119.99 at Clicks I will link it below because this is a must have for anyone’s makeup collection.
MAYBELLINE LIQUID LIPSTICK

FASHION
SO with this title, I love love love simple items that I Can add to my collection with ease.
And this is how I would love to do it.

Usually when I want clothing items the first things I look for are denims and sneakers.

For a year now I have been on the lookout for the perfect denim jacket, its so versatile you can literally wear it with anything, a dress, a formal pants and a top. You can wear it with leggings or even a skirt. Its something you can add to just make an outfit and Thank you Mr Price you did it!!! iT RETAILS FOR R279.99

THE PERFECT DENIM JACKET

SNEAKERS-
For years new balance has been killing the game, but recently I fell in-love with this sneaker style and colour, I love something I feel i can wear with everything. And here it is, It retails for R799.00 and for a sneaker of this design and brand I say get it while its hot.
NEW BALANCE LADIES LIFESTYLE

So I have given you a bit of a taste of my wish list and why, and I am sure there is a bunch of stuff you would like to own or have. These are all pieces and products I want to use for my blogging career but also to suit my lifestyle and my pocket. And by the Grace Of God I will get all of it, maybe even better. But these are affordable options for anyone on a budget and saving up for these things make it all worth it when you get it.

PREP, SET AND SLAY

Good Day all My Beautiful READERS

ITS DAY FIVE!!!!!!!

I feel like I reached a milestone I kid you not!

Today LADIES we are doing all the things, and by all the things I mean we are going to get our faces in order. RIGHT NOW!

TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN

Firstly, firstly. Please take care of your skin, I know I stress this a lot but you need to, I am going to be writing an updated skin routine so please, keep an eye out. But that is always step one, cleanse your skin and moisturise. In a previous post I did I spoke about my Palmers Cocoa Butter and all winter I have been using it to moisturize my face. Its really thick so I use a decent amount in order to keep my skin soft and moisturized.

So, the best thing about makeup is making sure everything you are wearing blends together, let me repeat, blends together! Its not easy finding your foundation shade, its either one shade too light or too dark, BUT recently I found my perfect shade in the LA GIRL range and It’s the only thing I wanted to use, I previously had spoken about other foundations but those we will get to in a bit. Let’s PREP our faces first.

PRIMER

PRIMER IS ALWAYS YOUR FRIEND! We have now already established our moisturizing step, to always start with clean skin, that has been washed, toned and moisturized, in this step your skin feels smooth and almost ready for products, this step is important, and I will also give you a few affordable options and dupes I Recently discovered, PRIME YOUR SKIN AFTER MOISTURIZING. I use the LA GIRL Primer and Recently started mixing it with the Essence Colour correcting Primer. It has the most amazing finish.

Finding your perfect shade

When you are in the process of finding a foundation, if you can get samples. Because our skin all has undertone colours, so even if you get a foundation that matches your skin it could oxidize have you looking either too dark or too ashy, so make sure you’re under tone is correct. Then your foundation will blend evenly to your skin tone, and look fresher for longer through out your day or night. Looking so much better than it being dark or ashy after you have set your makeup.
My perfect winter shade in the Maybelline Fit me Foundation is 330 and My perfect summer shade is 350, sometimes I mix them for the perfect combination, I can even do a light contour with 350 when my skin Is really light.

Below I am going to attach a few charts that can help you find the perfect undertone for your skin and how better to pick foundation.

When matching foundation, do not only match it to your face, your neck and your chest have the most honest colour percentage. Sometimes your face can be lighter than the rest of your body, so trust a neutral place of your body.

Knowing your blenders/ application

What you apply your foundation with is key, I personally am not a fan of foundation brushes, I want my foundation to feel like a second skin, it annoys me to death when there are streaky lines or even fluff that ends up in my foundation, I know that beauty blenders changed the game, but some hurt more than they help. I will show you which ones I’ve used and which have given me the best results.

I have used the Cala Makeup Sponges, the two I used were under R80.00 each and I feel like they were so difficult to work in, usually a beauty blender is used damp so that it allows for an airbrush effect and I felt like these ones damp were still pretty hard.

I then found the Real Techniques Beauty Blender, WOW For 119.95 It changed my life, it is so easy to use and work with, and that I even use it to blend my highlighter and it is so much easier to clean.

Okay lets head to application, I usually apply my concealer first after my primer because I use it to shape my eyebrows as well after I have filled them in, I use the Essence eyebrow pencil in dark brown, I used the It Cosmetics Brow pencil first it was a Gift I Won from a fellow Bloggers giveaway SCARLET PIPER and wow it changed my brow game, I am on the hunt to find it again. But before tell you how I apply let me show you what I look like without my foundation or brows.

This is after I have moisturized my face and I have no brow done, my problem areas are the darkness around my mouth and under my eyes, and marks from my breakouts, OR actual breakouts.😭

This is my every day face, I usually wear my brows everyday, well most days, they just so much definition to my face and make my eyes look fuller and bring my naked face together. 🙋

I apply my foundation depending on my needs, if I want a light coat I only put about a coin full of foundation on my skin, if I want fuller coverage I add more, I don't like to add a lot of concealer afterwards I like how my foundation looks like a second skin, it also makes me feel way more like myself.

This is what I look like after I have applied my foundation, mascara, a little eyeliner and a subtle almost skin tone highlighter

The aim is I love to feel as if I am not wearing makeup, I want the freedom that I used all my tools to have my look still be me. I just have is emphasize the parts of my face I might like more than others, but also to colour correct all the parts if my skin I'm still working on.

SET SET SET SET!!!!
Okay this is important, when you set your makeup, it should work like  good hairspray and keep your look intact, it also prolongs your makeup wear this is best for events, date night and even for the summer.
I have been using the YARLEY TRANSLUCENT setting powder, and wow, what an investment I have made, The LA Translucent setting powder makes my skin look so white and ashy and has HORRIBLE FLASHBACK where as this powder adheres to my skin shade and sets my makeup so perfectly

I also use the Dischem Rose Water in a tiny spray bottle and I set my makeup with it for some added moisture and protection.

I recently also found the Essence New Ready to Glow Setting spray I am definitely not sure how I feel about it, I know girls want the glow, but its a very Purple glow and I'm not sure it does fit my skin tone, and there is chunks of glitter that sprays out. I am not sure if its me that didn't shake it well, but I think as a body glitter it will be brilliant, So either way I do not lose.

The best part about make up is that you do what makes you happy, experiment till you get it right, you will eventually find what works for you and what does not, and until you do, TAKKIES&TULIPS GOT YOU COVERED.

SO We have come to an end of the 5 posts in 5 days, WE MADE IT!!!!
To every single reader who took time out to sit and read and even comment on my posts thank you, I am so grateful  for you, and this will not be the last time, I WILL not leave again and I promise that as much as I need to keep myself inspired, you guys are a huge part of that.

KAREN KINGSBURY - THE AUTHOR THAT INSPIRED MY WRITING CAREER

Good Evening all my Beautiful readers.
AND HAPPY WOMANS DAY

So in honour of this woman's day I am going to tell you about a writer who really shaped me in ways she might never understand and if I ever meet her I WILL just cry haha or fan girl so bad she might call security on me HAHA!!!

THE first book I ever read of Karen Kingsbury was the Bailey Flanigan series

Just the way she wrote and created every single character like they were her own flesh and blood, wrote them so well like by the time you finished the book you wanted them to be apart of your life.
The way she connected all these characters, how she would just put this pots of Gold wisdom when the character was going through a hard time, and how in the end you would know why she let the process happen as if it were real life. She made God so evident, calming and too like a roaring lion that you wanted to be closer to him because in the little moments the happy moments we can sometimes be so far away from God.
The Bailey Flanigan series taught me a lot about God, family, change, careers and life. Taught me about love, sacrifice and how the world sees others and even how we see ourselves.

Karen Kingsbury really didn't take any short cuts and wrote about how her family inspired so much off her work, how all the days she prayed and God  would give her the confidence to write.

Just like I have quoted in above picture, I lived every single book of Karens that I have read. I would stay up all day and all night just to read one more chapter, one more and one more. I realised that I didn't just love to read them, but I loved how I would feel afterwards, I felt like I was watching them through a glass box and that every page I read I could smell the room, imagine the looks on their faces, what their winters were like, how hard it was to be a dancer, a parent a fire fighter or even an adoptive child.

Her books taught me about myself, inspired me to never be sacred of my voice, to always push the boundaries.

Since I was little I loved telling stories, talking to myself in the mirror and creating situations in my head that eventually I would have to snap out of it and get back to real life. I loved knowing that there was a freedom in all the words, a freedom with all the characters, a freedom to love God openly and write bout it, to make everyday life tangible to people who might think its so easy, or even just to give hope to people who are ready to give up that its not over till God says its over, its only done when you succeed or when you give up. And Giving up SHOULD NOT BE AN OPTION!!

The moment I wrote the Bailey Flanigan series finished, I didn't just know I felt in my spirit that I would be a fully qualified and published writer . I knew that my voice was important and that no matter how selfish I was, I wanted my readers to live my stories too, I knew that God did not put this burning desire in me, for me NOT to make it.

These were my fears, That yes its all been said before, and that ag Another new writer wont make a difference, but this is what Karen showed me, she created a family in a book, she created love in a book, she created ambition in a book. HER WORDS CHANGED THE WAY I LOOKED AT MY CAREER, everyone says "its not a very fruitful career" and my response used to be I will have something to fall back on, and I don't want that anymore.
I want to be published, because I know that my work and my creativity is fuelled by something bigger than myself.

I am genuinely grateful to every single writer who sat day in and day out to make it work, to give us  a piece of themselves that sometimes we did not deserve, and no matter what we should honour them for their love, time and emotions they took and wrapped it up for us in a story that makes us live many different lives.

Karen Kingsbury by far is one writer that has had me laugh, cry, re think so many moments or decisions in my life. She has made me a writer hungry to publish, hungry to write. I also love that she writes series, because they really create an expectation for the next one. NON of her stories feel unfinished.

Below I will list a few of my other Karen Kingsbury Favourites and why I love them, without spilling the beans too much.

This is a beautiful book about a child who loses his mom and desperately looks for a father, and finds a connection with someone who he believes is, the story really is one for the books. Punny!

This is a book on loss, and how after all the hurt, you find God again and he shows you how no matter what you do, he will be there and love you with all his heart.

These two, wow. These were an emotional roller coaster but please, please read it.

Thank you for all your love and Support.

All my love.

Blogging and Beauty on a Budget.

GOOD DAY ALL MY BEAUTIFUL READERS

So as some of you may have seen I attended a wedding of one of my very close friends just at the beginning of May the beginning of the cold season and the first thing I thought was OH SHOOT I have to dress warm. And I need to be stylish, and I need to dress my new body AND AND AND!!!!

But before you do anything, This is step number one.

The worst thing is knowing exactly what you want to look like or want to wear and when you get to the store or get your package and it looks hideous on you (in my opinion). It really makes me not want ti dress up because then I might as well keep to my sneaker and jeans tradition and not break away from it cause there I feel most comfortable.

But this step helped me understand my body so much more, and there for how much better I can dress my body shape up.
So I am short, with broad shoulders and a bit of a tummy and yes cause of all my chocolates a double chin and big cheeks, not to forget my thicker thighs and long arms.

Number 1
Dressing short legs always go with a pants or skirt that will elongate your legs, something high waisted and if you find one with a pattern even better. They add length and there for your formal or semi formal outfit will be a hit and you will look taller.
Number 2
For broad shoulders I decided a polo-neck will work best, it will make our face look smaller, bring your shoulders together and therefore not make them look so broad and bam! You SLAY. For a few other options try getting halter tops, tips with thin straps and form fitting. Slouchy tops can make your shoulders wider.
Number 3
For your tummy, guys i really do love shaper underwear but wow I also love to breathe hey, and this was just messing my life up haha, so I thought wait BODY SUITS do all the things, they really make pull your outfit together literally, it makes your tummy look flat and it helps hide away any back rolls while making you look slim and its 10x more comfy than these shaper shorts.
Try also wearing tops that elongate your neck and BIG POINT, make sure you dont slouch. because when you do your whole body pushes forward and your tummy looks bigger.

My outfit of choice for the wedding was

THIS!!!! I looked every where and I could not find anything that now fit my needs for my body type, So when all else failed I went to the Chinese mall!!
This place has bargains for days, and the most beautiful Styles you don't always find in the store.

I found these high waisted pants with the most amazing pattern, it was light in texture, smooth and it was only R120.00

I also found this Velvet Ribbed Polo-neck Body suit that really brought this pants to life, I was scared the pattern would throw the outfit off but it Did not. It looked stunning and it was R100.00

I paired it with my pointed block heels i got from Ackermans, and can you believe it was the most expensive piece of my outfit it was R170.00 the point really made the flared pants look so different and made my legs look longer.

And this guys is what it looked like

My makeup of choice was Rose Gold because I had on these gold burgundy earrings I thought I would keep my face simple, elegant and with a pop of shimmer.

It really gave me so much confidence the moment I felt good about my body, I was dressing wrong because In my head I didn't like the way I looked but I didn't realise I just Needed to find my body type and make it work for me. And in tune make my outfit work for me, there's so many other ways to wear these pieces separately with different combinations.

I have worn this body suit with a high waisted light stain denim jeans. With my floral black boots i bought at Mr Price for R299.00 and a black belt with a gold buckle I got at Mr Price as well for R60.00.

I too wore it with a floral skirt I got At Mr price for R 100.00 and the pointed block heel from Ackermans with black stockings.

What I learned in this process is, be true to yourself, be confident and always make sure you are comfortable. Do not dress to fit any one else's opinion of you. You can make it work if you really try.

SO find your body type, find clothes that accentuate the parts of your body you might not like, because you make the outfit the outfit doesn't make you.

To see more pictures from the wedding please do log onto my social media and let me know did I make it work for me? Cause I slayed!!!!

All my Love
