Blogging and Beauty on a Budget. SKINCARE EDITION

My beautiful readers.

Its almost Christmas and what a skin journey this year has been for me.

So I have combination, hyper sensitive skin, I mean you can look at me dirty and my skin will break out HAHA. My skin bruises very easily, I get marks easily on my skin, by small scabs, rashes, mosquito bites and I get stretch marks soon as I pick up or lose weight.

So I've taught myself that prevention is better that cure especially with skin, its so unforgiving and I definitely needed to feel good about my skin, my body and my appearance and this is what I did

FACE SKIN CARE ROUTINE-

My face is very sensitive and everything I do on my face, I'd on my neck, chest and shoulders as well.
Step one- Exfoliate (once a week, twice depending on how my skin is doing that week)

I use my Isabella Garcia Exfoliating face scrub its got the most amazing ingredients and it makes my skin look less dull and more vibrant and smooth, I apply the product to my damp skin and rub it in circular motion on my face for about a minute I then move on to my neck, chest and shoulders using the same action I then rinse it thoroughly.

Step two- Cleanse (every morning, evening and after exfoliating)

So about two months ago I went through Dischem and decided to try their new Natures Nourishment range and I chose to use the Tea Tree range, I bought the Tea Tree facial cleansing wash and just applied it to my damp face an repeated the same actions I used while exfoliating and rinsed it off thoroughly with warm water.

Step 3- Tone (everyday after cleansing)
As I mentioned I tested the Dischem brand Tea Tree range and got the Tea Tree toner, I put it on a cotton pad and gently run it onto my face using an upward motion. I then wait for it to dry before I moisturize.

Step 4- Moisturize (everyday after toner)
So for moisturizer I continue to use my Garnier Even and Matte daily cream for normal to dry skin, I mix it with a pump of Palmers Skin therapy oil and Palmers cocoa butter with Vitamin E for extra moisture and protection.

The benefits if these products is that the Exfoliating face scrub provides your skin the removing of dullness and dead skin, the Tea Tree facial cleansing wash and Toner, Nourishes the complexion, helps with skin cell repair and renewal, and protects against free radical damage.
Moisturizing is very important after the first 3 steps because your skin is extremely dry after that and you need to now seal in all the products you've used add an extra layer of protection for future bacteria and have your skin glowing all at once with products that reduce scaring, even skin tone, and keep your skin from flaking or drying out. Good skin means your makeup will go on way better, look much more flawless and comes off so effortlessly.

MY BODY SKIN CARE ROUTINE-

SOOOOO... Before we get into that I've recently started a new healthy lifestyle and i'm loving it, but my body has been changing so much. I've slowly been losing a little weight and getting into shape, by eating much healthier than I used to, cutting out bad sugars (I'm really trying but I love junk food😶) , drinking tons of water (which I'm proud that I do🌝) and working out and doing extra physical activities than usual. So yup my stretch mark, dry skin and scab game is up so I am going to take you through how I been Loving my skin back to life.
Step 1- Steamy Shower/ Hot bath water.

Ladies, this is an important step, this opens up all of your pores and you can definately do this step aswell when doing your skincare routine, it allows for you to get all the dirt, bacteria and any other build up come off your skin and out your pores so much easier and less painful.

Step 2- Exfoliate (3 Times a week before I shave)

This step will save your skin ladies, I have something they call strawberry skin, those little dark marks on your legs you get after you've shaved and hair grows back and I totally hate them. I am not a fan of waxing so I shave, so I use the Rooibos Apricot body scrub from African Extracts I put about a teaspoon full on a exfoliating body glove and I apply the scrub, rub it into my skin in circular motions making sure to get all the areas of my body I shave especially, I then move up until I get to my back.
If you are exfoliating for the first time it might sting quite a bit,so do not apply too much pressure unless you're comfortable with it.
I apply quite a bit of pressure because this is removing all the dead skin and renewing my skin cells making them ready for my grooming.

Step 3- Shave (If its not my day to shave I skip this step and step 2)
I use the Shick Razor with changeable four layer blades.
Its got four blades with a flexi ball which helps you get a close shave without nicking yourself or causing any scratches or abrasions. I buy the blades that come in the pack and replace them as i go along. I start with my legs and then move up till my underarms.

Step 4- Body Wash
So after exfoliating and shaving my skin feels smooth and looks so stunning, but it could be a little bit dry and tacky after all of that. And I mean as amazing as this body scrub smells I gotsta wash my body girl, so because my skin is so sensitive, I cannot use scented body soap or wash, I use my holy grail I've been using for the past 5 years and its DOVE cream bar. Guys its like bathing in milk I swear. OMG!!! This has my skin feeling like a babies bum afterwards.

Step 5- Moisturize for a surprise

Ladies!!!  This step is so crucial especially after shaving and exfoliating! I try and dry myself off that my skin is still damp I then rub my body with Dischem brand Tissue Oil Cream, I follow with Palmers Skin therapy oil and finish off with Palmers Cocoa Butter with Vitamin E. I add a little more to the heels of my feet and in between my toes because that's were my skin dries out first.

So far m stretchmarks have reduced in colour, my strawberry legs are getting lighter and all round my skin is extra good to me. So I am definitely feeling so much more confident with the extra care I have been Putting into my skin.

GET TO KNOW THE WOMAN BEHIND THE BLOG.

Good Day all my beautiful readers.

Today I am going to give you a little insight in to who exactly I am.
In a previous post 'Family over everything' I gave a little insight into my family life and who I am in that aspect, now I am going to reveal to you the person behind all the pictures and posts.

I am the last born in a big family and I've always known a great love, I also knew support and how easy it is to actually forget the things that you dream about doing for your life because LIFE just gets in the way. I have been writing stories for as long as I can remember and I knew that if pursued it, God would reward me greatly, but I was very timid for a long time, absolutely scared to ever get my work out there, I mean its not an easy career choice for many reasons, but it made me who I was and I didn't want anyone to ruin the greatness it created in me and the absolute sheer joy I felt when ever I put my pen to paper and wrote all the things my mind and my heart where feeling or seeing.

Then this 'blogging' world just came up out of the woodwork's and i'm like, YAY an online platform where people can openly judge my writing. You know what, I didn't care, because I knew that it was my honest voice and that no matter what anyone said its a narrative I created. It was time for me to believe and be proud of my work just like my family and friends were. So I took my love for stories, nature and beauty the 3 things I've always loved and studied and I combined them to create my page, along with stories of my life.

I"m 25, I love Jesus , I am a receptionist for a aviation company, I am completing my writing degree and I will continue studying. I have a beautiful big family who support my dreams and aspirations no matter how far fetched it may seem to anyone else, because who am I if I'm not honest with myself, and somehow maybe someone who never had the confidence to do what they really wanted to, might see that the road might be tough, but worth it. I love FLOWERS, food, art, music, books, poetry, animals, skincare, makeup, statement pieces of clothing, sneakers (TAKKIES), dainty jewelry and GOD. And on my blog you will continue to learn about me, and maybe learn something that might be of value to you.

Many people ask me how am I a blogger with a full time job, truth is this is how am independent and look after myself. When if by Gods plan my blog grows into being a fruitful stable financial option I would definitely do it full time.

When I started blogging I didnt know where it would go and how far I would get and I still don't know but I am so blessed that in the short time I have been doing this, I've gotten so many good Messages, responses with encouragement and love regarding my posts that I am so humbled by, and grateful that they took time out to read what I had to say. These are big things to me, because loving people is the most important, loving what you do is so important and embracing your potential and going with your gut, pays off in the biggest way.

So no matter how you start, do it for YOU. Life will reward you.

A big thank you Goes out to my Close Friend Isabella Maake of ALLEBASI DESIGN who  Allebasi  helped me for over a year to build and create my blog and today is her birthday. Happy Birthday my Beautiful friend, thank you for your Kind spirit and generous heart and I pray that God will keep blessing you in your life, your career and your craft. Love you always.

TILL WE MEET AGAIN.
ALL LOVE
KEESHA 🖤

Blogging and Beauty on a Budget.

SO for a week straight I have been using this Essence Brow and Eyelash clear gel, and let me tell you!
I will not stop, so if anyone has recently seen my eyebrows they are such a hot mess, mainly for the fact that i am growing them out, COMPLETELY! Which, and please trust me its not easy, I cringe when I just think that one hair might be out of place but I needed a change and i naturally have very thick brows and I wanted to grow it out and shape it while leaving it as naturally thick as possible.

So for this reason I refrained from using brow products because I wanted the process to be as natural and organic as possible. And I am now at the end stages and I'm now planning which shape I would prefer and why. Of course it needs to suite your face shape, your eye shape and all your other facial features in order for them to be successful.

So this is where the gel came in, not only have i managed to get the desired shape and thickness id been dreaming about, I also found a product that works well on its own and has not dried my brows out in a any way. In fact my eyebrows are looking luscious and compared to the last 5 months of growing it out I was in need of some great things happening to my brows.

My over all evaluation, thoughts PLEASE go and get yourself some Essence eyebrow and eyelash clear gel. It dries in under a minute and it keeps your shape all day, you can even wear it over any brow powder or brow pigment of your choosing and it will not budge. For a product that is only R59.00 its well worth it. Its such a great investment who loves wearing their eyebrows natural with no added pigment such as myself.

So go out and get yourself this amazing product and don't forget to tag me with your thoughts.

Yours truly
TakkiesandTulips

Blogging and Beauty on a Budget.

Afternoon my Lovlies!
How are you all doing?

So two weeks ago my cousin got married, and we were blessed enough to be apart of the big very special day, it was so beautiful.

So in order of importance... for us ladies, what do we do first when we get an invitation? ME I looked for an outfit. I mean you got to dress for the occasion, weather, your body type and over all stye profile you chose for the day, So I chose floral, with everything!!

But finding the clothes, makeup, shoes and accessories that went with want I initially wanted was a struggle, first of all if you ask anyone who knows me for years they will say "Keesha you have gained so much weight", ladies I was a size 4, and I am now a 12. So you can imagine how shopping is for me now that I cant just put anything on and look great, I have to consider how it will look on my new shape, don't get me wrong my weight has caused a lot of insecurity especially when people mention it like its the most drastic change in the world and say "you should have stayed skinny" but the only reason I was skinny for such a long time was because I refused to gain weight in the fear of being bullied or shamed but I was very unhappy. And now with my size 12 I'm happy, content and tired of hearing what other people have to say and I chose myself over their comments every time because I matter more.

Whooo, went quite a bit off track but I needed to give some back story into that part because its what affected my decisions in a good way, so I was looking for a piece that was floral, loose and airy because it was a spring wedding but also something dark and really bold, I searched for hours online and in stored but eventually I found the most stunning, unique flair leg jumpsuit at RAGE SA for R179.90. They had the last one in my size I swear I almost started to cry tears of joy. So to that I'm not a girl who fancies high heels but I decided to start buying ones I would love to wear and I started my search for block heels, my oh my did i have the hardest time!!!!

I looked everywhere within my budget because I didn't have much to spend, I have a lot of other responsibilities and i am trying to save as much as possible in order to build myself up and teach my mind how to be good with money and smart about purchases. So on the day of the wedding my mom and older sister tell me they saw a beautiful block heel at pick n pay but it happened been packed out yet and they didn't know how much it was, so I went with my budget in my mind, and faith in my heart and found the most stunning shoe for R199.00.

So my outfit was now sorted and I just needed to complete my look and pull it together with my hair, accessories and makeup! And that's exactly what I did, I had a nude makeup look with a tad bit of a dark brown smokey eye and sleek straight hair with a middle path. I also wore small gold dainty jewelry and left it at that. I had a loud pattern, and big jewlery just would have thrown it all off.

I have inserted a few crazy, funny, silly and stunning pictures from our wonderful experience and i again would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Devan Isaacs. It was an amazing event to be apart of, I pray God blesses you with many more beautiful years to come.

A Sunday afternoon we spent going through old photos and sharing memories.

Grandad and Parents.

Grandma and Family.

Ouma

Grandparents.

Parents and my brother.

Parents on their wedding day.

Me.

Me.

Me.
Hello my beautiful readers, so if you have been on any of my social media pages, will insert handles down below and you click on my contact tab :). You would see that I am very family orientated, I actually have a huge family which adds greatly to the experience for me. I have my two parents, three siblings, whom are all married, along with their kids, I have three nieces, two nephews and New baba coming which we don't know the sex of as yet.

For us Sundays are always important, its our morning with God where we all fellowship and serve and the afternoons is for family, we try at least 2 Sundays out of every month to have a family lunch and spend some time together before the long new week ahead, and this particular Sunday we decided to pull out our family photo albums, we laughed at all the hairstyles, outfits and beautiful memories associated with every single one. Some made us think about family members we lost but always carry with us and that is what makes my Sundays so special. No fuss no muss just US.

What I'm getting at is, treasure the people in your life, no matter where you are, who you are with or what you are doing. Make time for family because they are all you are ever going to need when you're in the dark and if you don't, Lean on God and people who add an unbelievable amount of value to your life, no one wants to face this world alone no matter how strong you are.

So take this little memory of mine, and go and make your own and I would love if you'd share it with me to. :)

Happy Friday my Loves.
Be Blessed always.
